“Io conosco i volti, perchè quando attraverso la tela che i miei stessi occhi tessono, vedo la realtà che è al di sotto”. Roberta Coni fa sua, citandola, la frase di Khalil Gibran con imprevedibile effetti di trasparenze e la saggezza di un’esperienza nata nell’anima prima che nell’ interpretazione d’arte. Roberta sa vedere oltre la misura del tempo e sa rendere con una dolcezza mistica il ritratto di un volto che lancia messaggi e trascrive sentenze. Materia compatta, traslucidi effetti, ombre di nebbie che velano sguardi e poi limpidi occhi che cercano assenze, e pieghe di labbra che serrano versi in amari sorrisi: l’indagine affonda nell’arte difficile del volto ritratto in ogni suo aspetto che il tempo lavora con lima dolente. Ogni sguardo incide la mente: si entra nell’altro costretti a guardarsi nel profondo. Si aprono scrigni segreti di saggezze, risposte nel grembo del sogno e di verità che la vita impone col dolore di vivere. L’innocenza d’ogni età è offerta attraverso lo sguardo sospeso che declama un perché che attende risposte.

Roberta can see beyond time and she knows how to make the sweetness and mystical portrait of a face, launch messages and judgments. The material is compact with translucent effects, shadows and mist that veil a gaze and then with limpid eyes look for absences, as the folds of lips shutter verses in bitter smiles. She can survey the difficulties of a portrait in every aspect, like time working with sore lime. Every glance affects the mind: we enter into the others forced to look deep within us. She opens secret chests of wisdom, with answers in the womb of the dream and the truth that life imposes on us from the pain of living. The innocence of every age offered through a suspended gaze that is waiting for answers.

Roberta Coni, nata a Marino (Roma) nel 1976. Si diploma all’Accademia di Belle arti di Roma nel 1999. Ha integrato i suoi studi all’estero con due borse di studio in Spagna e negli Stati Uniti. Interessata principalmente alla figura umana, mescola la tecnica classica della pittura ad olio ad impasti corposi fatti di bitume, cera fusa e colla. Dal 2009 la sua ricerca è orientata verso dipinti di grandi dimensioni in cui il volto emerge spesso dall’ombra in un’interpretazione in cui l’anima contemplativa è volta alla continua introspezione.La caratterizza un forte realismo associato ad una materia sempre più scabrosa. Figure femminili dalla struggente espressività, volti in primo piano dove, con particolare attenzione, quasi lenticolare, il pennello si è soffermato sulla pelle e sugli occhi, ai particolari e alle pulsazioni segrete della superficie pittorica. I volti spesso violati dal tempo che scorre senza sosta sulla pelle, formandola e deformandola negli anni, mettono a nudo persino l’anima. Integra il linguaggio pittorico a filmati video che fanno da compendio all’opera stessa, nella creazione di un lavoro particolarmente contemporaneo nella contaminazione delle tecniche. Negli ultimi anni ha cominciato un ambizioso progetto legato alla realizzazione pittorica della Divina Commedia di Dante Alighieri. Ha ricevuto numerosi riconoscimenti all’estero tra cui, Inghilterra, Turchia e Cina.
Roberta Coni was born in Marino (Rome) in 1976. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome in 1999. She integrated her studies abroad with two grants in Spain and the United States. Primarily interested in the human figure, she mixes the classical technique of oil painting with heavy body paste made of bitumen, melted wax and glue.
Since 2009, her artistic research has been geared toward large-scale paintings, in which the face often emerges from the shadows. An Interpretation of the contemplative soul aimed in continuous introspection. Her work is characterized by it’s strong realism while combining rougher materials. Female figures with poignant expressions, faces in the foreground, where, with detailed attention, almost lenticular, the brush focuses on the skin and eyes, and in particular to the secret pulse of the pictorial surface. The faces are often violated by time flowing relentlessly on the skin, deforming and shaping it over the years, to lay bare the soul. She has created a compendium of contemporary work as she integrates video-art with the visual language of her paintings for creations made with the same techniques. Lately she has begun an ambitious project related to the pictorial realization of the Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri. She has received numerous awards abroad including England , Turkey and China .
